2000 Exhibition
Village Churches and Chapels
Opening on Easter Saturday, 23rd April, our new exhibition follows the history of the churches and chapels of Castle Donington and Lockington.
Castle Donington was a stronghold of non-conformist faiths and there were early meeting houses for Quaker, Baptist, Methodist and Congregationalist.
Old record books and colourful banners are displayed along with photographs to bring back memories of Sunday School treats and Whitsuntide parades.
The parish churches of Castle Donington and Lockington each have a long history, with associations to generous benefactors and notable local families.
