museum 102 2009 Exhibition

Pleasures, Potions and Pastimes

The 2009 exhibition takes a look at home and village life in the last century.

For most of that time, there was no television, let alone computer games and Wi-Fi.
Board games, card games and other activities such as charades brought family and friends together. The cinema was an important part of leisure activities and the wireless provided at link to the world beyond the parish boundary.

Home remedies were essential before 1948 when the National Health Service was formed. Some of these and the so-called old-wives tales will complete what will provide another fascinating glimpse into life in Castle Donington.
